Useful information
The Organizing Committee of Biofuel Conference is very thankful for your interest in the aforementioned conference and welcomes you to Ouagadougou, capital city of Burkina Faso. The committee would like to provide you with the following useful information to ensure a good journey and stay:
Arrival in Ouagadougou
All international flights to Burkina Faso land at Ouagadougou International Airport. European Union citizens should take care of visa procedure in Burkina Faso embassies in their respective countries. The attached document informs about visa application fees at the Airport of Ouagadougou. Two photos (passport format) are required. The visa fees can be paid in CFA only upon arrival or the day following arrival, before getting back your passport. 2iE staff will get your passport back the day following your arrival upon presentation of the receipt (delivered by the police which will mention either the visa has been paid or not). Hostesses, easily identifiable, will be waiting for you. They will show you the shuttles that will drive you to hotels. Taxis will be available at fares ranging from 2,000 CFAF to 5,000 CFAF according to distance and time of arrival (day/night) for transportation from airport to hotel for those who have decided to take care of their own accommodation.
Preventive measures:
Burkina Faso is located in the tropical zone. You should therefore take preventive measures against malaria (e-g: MALAROM). A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for international travelers. You are required to drink only mineral water and as often as possible. It is not advisable to drink tap water, even though its quality meets international standards.
Accommodation:
We recommend participants to stay at Hotel Laïco Ouaga 2000 with which rates have been discussed : 60 000 fcfa per day (including breakfast). For those whose accommodation will be taken care of by 2iE, a shuttle will ensure transportation from hotel to Ouaga 2000 Conference Center. Conference shuttle schedules will be posted in hotels and are attached to the agenda you will be/have been provided with; buses will take you to the Conference Center on November 14th at 7.00 a.m. for pre-registration before the official opening ceremony. Please make sure you are on time because bus drivers will leave the hotel at 7 sharp. Latecomers and participants taking care of their accommodation will be responsible for their shifts to the conference venue.
Health
The Organizing Committee will implement an onsite emergency medical support during the conference. However, the Organizing Committee will not take care of participants’ healthcare fees. Thus, participants are encouraged to make sure before departing that they could cover all their healthcare expenses and the costs of repatriating.
Security:
Burkina Faso is a peaceful country, with no particular security problems. The minimum rules of good behavior and manners must be observed and respected, just like in all countries.
